It all started 2 years ago. I just had a few hamsters Arabella, Piper and Jordan. I had been communicating to a friend on the internet who I met on a pet website. My friend had lots of gerbils do the petstore mistaking the sexes, or her later on mistaking the sexes she had living together.
Talking to her I realized how much I had missed having gerbils and was ready to have gerbils again. We went to the petstore and there was just 3 gerbils there. 2 old enough babies living together, and one lone gerbil a bit older than the pups.
I thought since they were all fairly young I could introduce the older male to the two younger males. The split cage method was a success with them, they lived happily together for about 5 months. I named these three boys Sammy, Scout and Diago.
About 5 months later they began all fighting constantly, getting into ball fights. I had no choice but the seperate all of them. Back then I only had a partime job and didn't get payed that much, so I did not have the income to provide seperate tanks for all 3 gerbils. I decided to contact the petstore to see if they could help me out in anyway. They were not willing to help me out whatsoever.
I eventually found new homes for Diago and Scout and ended up keeping Sammy. Diago and Scout were quite wild and were not that people friendly, Sammy was really sweet so I decided he would be the one I would keep.
Sammy was a very happy go lucky guy considering he lived all alone for several months, never seemed lonely or depressed living alone. I loved Sammy so much I wanted to give him more though. So I eventually was able to find him a female to live with.
I got Cecilla at the same petstore I got Sammy from. The petstore had the tank marked off as boy gerbils, but something told me to look closer, and I spoted Cecilla and realized she was a girl. Cecilla is the the gerbil in the middle of my logo in the purple chincilla hut.
I split cage Sammy and Cecilla and successfully got them together, since then they have been living together and have had 3 litters of babies. Cecilla has been looking a bit warn out everytime she has babies though, so soon I will be seperating them. Having Sammy live with some sons, and Cecilla live with some daughters. Sammy enjoys the babies alot, so I know he will be happy living with some of his sons.
